Dear Friends of The HistoryMakers:
This is a reminder that applications for The HistoryMakers Digital Archive 2022-2023 Faculty Innovations in Pedagogy and Teaching Fellowship program are due tomorrow, Friday, May 6. Eight (8) Fellowships ($7500) will be awarded on Friday, May 20, 2022. This fellowship program builds upon the annual Innovations in Pedagogy and Teaching Fellowship launched in 2020.
Last year's fellows were Denison University's Terrance Dean, Howard University's Farhana Ferdous, Clark Atlanta University's April Lundy, Carnegie Mellon University's Andrew Meade McGee, Dominican University's Clinton Nichols, the College of William & Mary's Adrienne Petty, and the University of Iowa's Deborah Elizabeth Whaley.
Only faculty at The HistoryMakers Digital Archive subscribing institutions are eligible to apply (listed below and here: https://www.thehistorymakers.org/digitalarchive/ institutional-member). The fellowship period is from June 2022 to February 2023. Competitive applications will evidence significant use of The HistoryMakers Digital Archive in the curriculum and in classroom instruction while fostering innovation, student learning, and enhanced research skills. We are looking for faculty who are committed to utilizing The HistoryMakers Digital Archive in order to diversify higher education’s virtual, hybrid, and in-person instruction. Student Ambassador Program
Applications for The HistoryMakers 2022-2023 Student Ambassador Program are also due tomorrow, Friday, May 6.
To become one of our student ambassadors, interested students must attend one of our subscribing institutions (listed below and here: https://www.thehistorymakers.org/ digitalarchive/institutional-member). If selected, students will begin in June 2022 and will work in virtual sessions with other student ambassadors to develop individual projects and themes for The HistoryMakers weekly newsletters, blog posts, and social media campaigns. Students will also develop a plan to promote the use of The HistoryMakers Digital Archive at their schools during the 2022-2023 academic year and organize and run a campus-wide Black History Month Digital Archive Contest in February 2023.
Applicants must be a rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student and able to commit to working from June 2022 through April 2023 (no meetings in August 2022 or on holidays). Student ambassadors will be expected to submit weekly progress reports and participate in weekly conference calls. Those accepted will be paid $15/hour and be expected to work 10 hours per week.
